What it is for
An ornament is the Christmas gift that comes back out every year. A dated one becomes part of a family's history.
Order by the cutoff on this page if it is meant for this year's tree.
Laser engraving
A laser removes a surface coating or marks the material itself. Nothing is added, so nothing can wear off.
The result is one tone: the colour of the material underneath. There is no colour printing.
The design is cut into the surface; you can feel it with a fingertip on most materials.
Designs that suit it
A name, a year and a small picture on a small face. Simple, high-contrast designs read from across a room.
The print area is on the front: 750 × 750 pixels, about 2.5 × 2.5 in at 300 dpi — a roughly square area. The studio generates the design at that size, so it is printed from a full-resolution file rather than an enlarged preview.
Names, dates, monograms, line art and silhouettes. Less suited: colour, soft shading and photographs, unless converted to a high-contrast line or dot version first.
Sentences that would suit it
“Our family name in old-style lettering, since 1972”
Example design by Vessim. Shown on our example ceramic ornament, 4 shapes.
“Matching Christmas jumpers for the Patels, merry and bright”

“Her name, birth date and weight for a newborn's first outfit”

Examples by Vessim: public-domain art and our own lettering, not studio output. The studio designs yours from your sentence.

Before you order
How long does the Leatherette Ornament, 3 Shapes take to arrive?
To Canada, 5–15 business days, with first-item shipping at $13.41 CAD; to the US, 2–5 business days ($6.43 CAD). It is printed to order in Miami, FL, United States, and the window counts from the day you order, printing included.
Can I put a photo on the Leatherette Ornament, 3 Shapes?
Only as a high-contrast version. Engraving has a single tone, so a photograph needs to be turned into line work or a dot pattern; faces and fine shading lose detail. The print file is 750 × 750 pixels on the front, so a photo should be at least that size to print sharply.
What colours does the Leatherette Ornament, 3 Shapes come in?
9 colours: Black, Black with silver string, Blue with silver string, Dark Brown, Gray, Light Brown, Pink, Rawhide, Rustic.
When should I order the Leatherette Ornament, 3 Shapes for Christmas?
With standard shipping, by December 4 to Canada and December 18 to the US. Those dates count this product's longest delivery window back from December 25 in business days. Express shipping at checkout, where it is offered, shortens the window.
How do I look after the Leatherette Ornament, 3 Shapes?
It is laser-engraved, and that sets the care. Hand wash with a soft sponge. No abrasive pads or scouring powder on the engraved area. Dry straight away to avoid water marks on metal and glass.
