Paying for it.

What we take, when the money actually leaves, which currency you are charged in, and how credit stacks with a card.

What we take

Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover, plus Apple Pay, Google Pay and Link. Payment is handled by Stripe; your card number never reaches a Vessim server and we could not produce it if you asked us to.

There is no buy-now-pay-later option and no PayPal. Both are on the list; neither is worth adding before there is volume to justify the integration.

Currency

Prices show in Canadian dollars by default and in US dollars when you are shipping to a US address; you can switch manually at any time and the preference is remembered. You are charged in the currency displayed, so there is no conversion surprise on the statement — though a card issued in a third currency will still apply its own rate.

When you are charged

Once, at checkout. We do not place an authorisation hold and settle later, because production starts within minutes and splitting the two would only create the pending-charge confusion for no benefit.

If an order is stopped before printing — by you, or by us under acceptable use — the charge is reversed in full. A reversal within a few hours of the original charge sometimes disappears from the statement entirely rather than appearing as a refund; that is your bank’s behaviour, not a missing refund.

Credit, gift cards and cards together

Three balances can contribute to one order, and they apply in this sequence:

  1. Store credit, from a referral or a goodwill adjustment.
  2. Gift card balance, oldest card first.
  3. Whatever is left, to the card.

If credit and gift cards cover the whole total, no card is required and none is asked for. Shipping is included in what they cover.

Declines

A decline comes from your bank, not from us, and we see only a category — insufficient funds, wrong details, blocked by the issuer. The most common cause on a first order is an address mismatch: the billing address has to match the one your bank holds, which is often not the address you are shipping to. Nothing is reserved on a declined attempt and retrying is safe.

Receipts and tax

A receipt is emailed on payment and every order keeps one in your orders. Canadian orders show GST/HST separately at the recipient province’s rate; US orders show state and local sales tax where it applies. A business needing a tax invoice with a registration number can request one from the order page.

If something is wrong

Write to us before raising a chargeback. A chargeback freezes the order and takes weeks; a reprint or a refund through returns usually takes a day, and the answer is nearly always yes.
