What it is for
A poster is the simplest way to put a picture on a wall at a real size. Paper is also the surface that holds fine detail best.
Print resolution matters most here. A design generated at the print size, as ours are, stays sharp at arm's length.
Digital printing
Digital printing is high-resolution inkjet: pigment ink is laid onto paper, canvas, card or a label in fine dots.
It has the widest colour range of any method here, and the finest detail, which is why it is used for art prints.
The finish depends on the stock — matte, satin or gloss — not on the ink.
Designs that suit it
Anything you would frame: a photograph, a map of a place, a painting-style scene, a typographic print. Portrait or landscape to match where it will hang.
The print area is on the front: 1,500 × 2,100 pixels, about 5.0 × 7.0 in at 300 dpi — a tall, portrait area. The studio generates the design at that size, so it is printed from a full-resolution file rather than an enlarged preview.
Photographs, paintings, maps and fine type. Less suited: very large flat areas of a single dark colour on matte stock, which can show slight banding up close.
Sentences that would suit it
“Our initials and wedding date, elegant, gold and green”
Example design by Vessim. Shown on our example vertical framed poster.
“A woman at her craft, for my daughter's first studio”
Sculptress, Eugène Grasset, 1897. Public domain. Shown on our example matte vertical posters.
“A pale pink rose like an old botanical print, for Grandma”
China or Bengal Rose, from Les Roses, Pierre-Joseph Redouté, 1817–24. Public domain. Shown on our example vertical framed poster.
Examples by Vessim: public-domain art and our own lettering, not studio output. The studio designs yours from your sentence.

Can I put a photo on the Colored Frame Posters?
Yes. Digital printing is the best method here for photographs: the widest colour range and the finest detail. The print file is 1500 × 2100 pixels on the front, so a photo should be at least that size to print sharply.
