What it is for
A poster is the simplest way to put a picture on a wall at a real size. Paper is also the surface that holds fine detail best.
Print resolution matters most here. A design generated at the print size, as ours are, stays sharp at arm's length.
Digital printing
Digital printing is high-resolution inkjet: pigment ink is laid onto paper, canvas, card or a label in fine dots.
It has the widest colour range of any method here, and the finest detail, which is why it is used for art prints.
The finish depends on the stock — matte, satin or gloss — not on the ink.
