What it is for
A phone case is the object someone holds more than any other, so a design on one is seen many times a day.
Pick the exact model; cases are not interchangeable between phone generations.
Dye sublimation
Sublimation prints the design onto transfer paper with dye ink; heat then turns the dye into a gas that bonds into a polyester coating or polyester fibre.
Colour becomes part of the surface rather than a layer on top, so it is vivid and does not crack or peel. It cannot print white: white in a design shows as the colour of the item itself, which is why sublimated items are white or pale.
There is no texture at all — on fabric you cannot feel the print, and on a mug it is under a smooth coating.
Designs that suit it
A tall, narrow picture — a portrait photo, a painting, a pattern. The camera cut-out sits top left on most phones, so keep faces away from it.
The print area is on the front: 1,287 × 2,055 pixels, about 4.3 × 6.8 in at 300 dpi — a tall, portrait area. The studio generates the design at that size, so it is printed from a full-resolution file rather than an enlarged preview.
Full-colour photographs, paintings and edge-to-edge patterns. Less suited: designs that rely on white ink, and important detail right at seams, handles or edges where the transfer wraps.

Can I put a photo on the Tough Cases?
Yes. Sublimation reproduces photographs in full colour with no texture. White areas print as the item's own colour, so a photo with a white background blends into it. The print file is 1287 × 2055 pixels on the front, so a photo should be at least that size to print sharply.

How do I look after the Tough Cases?
