What it is for
A mouse pad or desk mat sits under someone's hands all day at work.
The mouse covers the lower right on most desks; put the important part of the picture elsewhere.
Dye sublimation
Sublimation prints the design onto transfer paper with dye ink; heat then turns the dye into a gas that bonds into a polyester coating or polyester fibre.
Colour becomes part of the surface rather than a layer on top, so it is vivid and does not crack or peel. It cannot print white: white in a design shows as the colour of the item itself, which is why sublimated items are white or pale.
There is no texture at all — on fabric you cannot feel the print, and on a mug it is under a smooth coating.
Designs that suit it
Landscape images, maps and patterns suit the shape. A desk mat is large enough for a full scene.
The print area is on the front: 4,843 × 2,480 pixels, about 16.1 × 8.3 in at 300 dpi — a wide, landscape area. The studio generates the design at that size, so it is printed from a full-resolution file rather than an enlarged preview.
Full-colour photographs, paintings and edge-to-edge patterns. Less suited: designs that rely on white ink, and important detail right at seams, handles or edges where the transfer wraps.
Sentences that would suit it

Sunflowers, Vincent van Gogh, 1888. Public domain. Shown on our example matte vertical posters.
“One striped Dutch tulip for my Dutch mum”
Study of a Tulip (Ammirael Winckel), Pieter Holsteyn II, c. 1645. Public domain. Shown on our example matte vertical posters.
“Her name, birth date and weight for a newborn's first outfit”

Before you order
How long does the Desk Mats take to arrive?
It does not currently ship to Canada; to the US, 10–15 business days ($14.78 CAD). It is printed to order in Las Vegas, NV, United States, and the window counts from the day you order, printing included.
Can I put a photo on the Desk Mats?
Yes. Sublimation reproduces photographs in full colour with no texture. White areas print as the item's own colour, so a photo with a white background blends into it. The print file is 4843 × 2480 pixels on the front, so a photo should be at least that size to print sharply.
What sizes does the Desk Mats come in?
3 sizes: 14.4" × 12.1", 23.6" × 13.8", 31.5" × 15.5".
When should I order the Desk Mats for Christmas?
With standard shipping, by December 4 to the US. Those dates count this product's longest delivery window back from December 25 in business days. Express shipping at checkout, where it is offered, shortens the window.
How do I look after the Desk Mats?
It is sublimation-printed, and that sets the care. Wash cold, inside out. Tumble dry low. No bleach; the colour is in the fibre, so it will not crack.
